Our Design & Construction Team at Scentre Group is responsible for the end-to-end process from concept to delivery of our Westfield living centres. An integral part of this is the extensions and upgrades to existing centres. We develop and deliver designs that reflect the Westfield experience and latest thinking while optimising costs and providing speed to market that exceeds the best achievable by alternate delivery methodologies.

Your opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated team player to join the Scentre Design & Construction Team within our Victorian team working on the Knox redevelopment.

As the Tenancy Coordinator at Westfield Knox, reporting to the Tenancy Delivery Manager, your key responsibility is the effective management and coordination of internal and external stakeholders during the construction project phase.  

This role is an exciting opportunity for someone with great project management skills, exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills. It’s a great chance to be a part of the Westfield Knox redevelopment project which is currently underway. The centre is currently home to more than 350 retailers and spans a GLA of more than 140,000m2 (the 8th largest centre in Australia), and it will be transformed to create a unique Westfield Living Destination complete with much-loved existing and new, innovative retail experiences including state of the art facilities, basketball courts, a library and so on. 

Your key accountabilities will include:

  • Proactively and effectively manage internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Manage commercial and financial activities to ensure completed works achieved in line with time, cost and quality objectives
  • Manage the procurement and the proper administration of subcontracts and/or supply agreements
  • Work with Scentre Design teams to create innovative design & construction solutions. Actively support Scentre Leasing & Retail Solutions to create space that connects and enriches our community
  • Ensure all work is delivered safely and in accordance with current WHS legislation as well as the Scentre Group People Protecting People safety culture
  • Plan, program and coordinate the delivery of onsite construction activities I accordance with project deliverables.
  • Review lessee designs with Retail Design to confirm Scopes of work
  • Always maintain availability and promote active communication with subcontractors and Scentre Design & Construction staff, displaying integrity, understanding and passion
  • Gain merchant understanding of and commitment to Westfield lease agreement.
  • Negotiate production of cost estimates from subcontractors and manage cost approvals
  • Assist the Centre Management & Leasing teams to ensure merchant shop is ready on time and within budget.
  • Distribute internal cost reports and manage weekly reports.

What will set you apart from the rest?

Your previous experience in retail construction or facilities management and/or contracts administration will hold you in good stead to take on the challenge of this multifaceted role. Use your exceptional communication skills to influence and engage with trade professionals, WHS and construction team to deliver to deadlines. You naturally display agility, flexibility and are self-driven and motivated and have a strong passion and commitment to work towards the construction project goals.

  • A degree in Construction Management or similar and/or Trade Qualification is not essential but preferable 
  • You enjoy working in a high performing, fast paced and inclusive team culture
  • Experience in construction industry is ideal 
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications, drawings and construction documentation for accuracy and buildability
  • Some experience in contract administration including preparing tender recommendations, contract documentation, raising of orders, processing progress claims and invoices
  • You have excellent problem-solving skills and are highly efficient & organised
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills
