Join our collaborative Facilities team as a Building Optimisation Engineer and take the lead in identifying and delivering new operational efficiency opportunities across Scentre Group destinations.
This role combines engineering expertise, data analysis & technology to inform business decisions, improve system performance & support the application of the Integrated Environmental Plan to achieving our Net Zero & water efficiency goals.
Day-to-day you will be required to:
- Analyse and interpret data across building systems (e.g. BMS, HVAC, analytics, vertical transport, contractor systems) to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
- Prioritise, triage, and communicate actionable insights aligned to organisational objectives to drive operational outcomes
- Partner closely with operational teams and contractors to ensure insights are practical, understood, and effectively implemented on-site
- Identify and escalate critical issues requiring deeper investigation or cross-team resolution
- Build and uplift data literacy across teams to improve asset performance and system reliability
- Provide detailed management reporting at all levels including exception-based reports and alerts
- Manage and maintain large, complex datasets, ensuring accuracy, structure, and integrity in collaboration with IT
- Develop a strong working knowledge of building systems and their operational limitations
- Support the delivery of capital projects that impact site performance with adherence to relevant AUS/NZ Standards and industry best practice.
This role is a permanent, full-time role.
What sets you apart:
- Relevant tertiary or trade qualifications in Building Services, Engineering, Building Automation, Design & Construction Management, or Facilities Management
- 3+ years’ experience within the retail or property industry, with an understanding of operational environments
- Strong database management capability, including advanced MS Excel skills
- Exposure to cloud and edge computing, machine learning, and IoT technologies is highly regarded, along with experience using analytics tools in the built environment
- A collaborative mindset, with the ability to build strong relationships and work effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a strategic and analytical approach to identifying and addressing issues
