As a Building Optimisation Engineer, you will combine engineering expertise, data analysis and technology to support the delivery of Scentre Group’s water, net zero and waste management strategies in addition to improving asset efficiency. You will play an important role in embedding Internet of Things (IoT) technologies such as smart metering, standardising data and translating insights into practical operational outcomes.

Day-to-day you will be responsible for:

  • Partnering with vendors and technology providers to implement and optimise metering and analytics solutions across a range of building systems, including waste, vertical transport and HVAC.
  • Working closely with Facilities and operational teams to monitor performance, validate data and drive improvement initiatives.
  • Developing reporting, dashboards and insights that support informed decision-making.
  • Escalate critical issues and support investigation and resolution of system or operational problems
  • Identifying opportunities to improve water efficiency and reduce consumption through data-driven insights.
  • Developing and implementing water metering strategies, standards and best practices aligned with the Group's water strategy.
  • Leading the rollout of water metering and monitoring infrastructure across priority destinations
  • Collaborating with Design & Construction teams to embed metering standards into new developments and upgrades.

This role is a permanent, full-time role.

What sets you apart:

  • A background in Building Services, Facilities Management, Design & Construction Management, Mechanical or Hydraulic Engineering, or something similar (trade or tertiary qualifications welcome).
  • Hands-on experience with building systems like Mechanical & Hydraulic Services, Building Management Systems, or Building Analytics.
  • An understanding of industry standards, best practice and compliance requirements in facilities and building systems
  • Working knowledge of data integration techniques and principles
  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work across teams to drive alignment and deliver shared outcomes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a strategic approach to challenges.
  • Experience analysing complex data sets and translating findings into clear, practical insights.
  • A proactive approach, with a focus on identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and deliver meaningful outcomes.
