Your Opportunity

The Commercial Retail Manager is responsible for making commercial recommendations and negotiating outcomes that ensure a consistent, effective and commercial approach to the prevention, management and collection of rental arrears and promotional allowances with our Retailers. The purpose of the role is to also build strong retailer relationships that improve retailer advocacy

Role requirements:

  • Negotiate and recommend commercial outcomes with Retail Partners, including rental collections, promotional allowances, payment plans, and lock-outs within delegated authority limits.
  • Manage retailer rent collection, resolve billing issues, and support optimal lease performance in partnership with Leasing & Retail Solutions (L&RS).
  • Coordinate lease lock-outs and terminations with L&RS.
  • Manage retailer electricity recoveries across Scentre Group and third-party networks.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of retailer lease obligations, rights, and relevant legislation to ensure compliance.
  • Conduct quarterly reviews of the Schedule of Tenancies (SOT) to ensure accurate retailer income and billing.
  • Ensure all retailer charges are accurate, transparent, and explainable.
  • Identify and manage enterprise risks in line with Scentre Group's risk appetite and compliance requirements.
  • Use internal and external insights to improve retail performance and develop effective arrears and promotional allowance strategies.
  • Build strong retailer relationships and customer-centric partnerships that support commercial outcomes.
  • Collaborate with RAS, L&RS, Centre Experience, Retail Experience, and Brand Experience teams to resolve issues and optimise retailer performance.
  • Partner with Finance to ensure timely income recognition and billing.
  • Work with Legal teams to progress arrears recovery.

What will set you apart from the rest?

Experience in the following:

  • Tertiary qualified – preferably property, business or retail experience.
  • 5 years’ experience in debt collection, retail property management or with a national retailer
  • Skills -Commercially astute, good oral and written communication, strategy, negotiating and influencing, building relationships, resilient, executive presence/represent the company
